Mothers Day - Part 3

Morning everyone! Don't worry I haven't forgotten it's Wednesday, the weekly deals will be in a separate post but I thought following on from yesterday's butterfly creation I would share the third Mother's Day card which just so happens to have another lovely butterfly on. I apologise for the quality of all of the Mother's Day card photos, these were made about a month ago when I hadn't had a chance to set up anywhere decent to take photos and well the result wasn't exactly my best. Hopefully the photo quality won't distract you from the card itself though.

Now I admit this butterfly isn't quite as pretty as yesterday's but I do still really like it. Although it looks black in the photograph it was actually cut from Blackberry Bliss card stock as this coordinated well with the Painted Blooms DSP.  

I'm not usually one for busy backgrounds but I felt this DSP worked really well behind the hexagons as it means it doesn't cover the whole of the background. The sentiment is from the Painted Petals stamp set and could easily be used for a card for a friend or for birthday's as well as Mother's Day.

Bright and Beautiful Christmas

With the weather so wet and windy it's the best time to get a bit of crafting done especially with Christmas coming up! I love stars at any time of year but especially Christmas so when I saw Stampin' Up! had bought out the lovely Bright and Beautiful set I just had to buy it. 

As I do when I get any new stamp set I do a search on Pinterest for some inspiration and I found this wonderful simple card by Aly Schilling. Before I started putting the card together I went rummaging through my ribbon box to see what I could find, the satin stitched ribbon in this years In Colours was perfect! It has that lovely hint of shine and as you probably know I love the Blackberry Bliss and Lost Lagoon so I just had to make two versions of this card! Which one's your favourite?

The snowflake embellishments are so cute and look perfect with a rhinestone jewel glued to the middle to finish it off. What's Christmas without a little sparkle? Well and Truly Cased

Hello all, it's quite a late post from me tonight. I really struggled to get started tonight, I knew I wanted to make something, I just didn't know what! So as I usually do when I get stuck I searched Pinterest for some inspiration and I found a lovely card by Nitestamper which I decided to try and recreate. The reason for the title is that when I visited her blog to get a closer look at the card I found out that she had found her inspiration on Card Creations By Beth with a similar card. As you can see I have chosen to use different colours to both of the other cards as I really like Blackberry Bliss and so I try to use it whenever I can.

I decided I wanted to add a couple of other colours to my card so that it didn't appear too dark and so I pulled out my trusty colour coach which suggested Old Olive and Soft Sky which I think work really well. As both Old Olive and Blackberry Bliss are quite intense colours I had a practice on my grid paper in order to get the colour combinations just right, in the end I stamped Soft Sky straight onto the card, Old Olive twice on scrap first and Blackberry Bliss three times before stamping on my actual card. Even then my sentiment gets a little lost in the purple. The new Park Lane designer series paper is just gorgeous and as this sheet had my favourite colour on I just had to use it.
