The lovely Lotus Blossom - Part 2

Morning everyone, here is the second Lotus Blossom card that we made in this months class. I got the idea for this card from a similar one we made at Stampin' Stars training but we used the Best Day Ever stamp set, one that I need to have a play with as it's still sat un-inked. I've been very good this time and kept all of my new goodies in a box and they are only allowed out once I use them, this is really encouraging me to use them all instead of finding a favourite and then forgetting about the others. This Lotus Blossom set could easily allow me to forget about everything else I've bought!


For this flower I used Rose Red and Pink Pirouette which I think goes nicely with the Crushed Curry paper and Bermuda Bay ribbon. To give it a little extra detail I embossed the Rose Red strip of card using the Decorative Dots TIEF which the ribbon is then wrapped round.

The lovely Lotus Blossom - Part 1

Morning everyone, as I'm sure I've said in one of my previous posts the Lotus Blossom set has to be my favourite set from the Sale-a-bration offerings this year and so for my first class of the year I just had to make full use of the Lotus Blossom set. As we made four different cards I have split these posts into four parts but they may not necessarily be consecutive as I have several other cards to show you at the moment so you'll just have to keep coming back in order to see all four cards!



This first card was inspired by a swap I received from Charry at Stampin' Stars training (to see all of the swaps I received make sure you check out my Facebook page), I really liked her mix of blue with crumb cake and decided to give it a go myself. I'm really liking the idea recently of using stamps to create my background instead of relying on patterned paper so I might be giving this technique more of a chance in future makes. This was my favourite card of the four and so I did get a little carried away with adding different bits to it, you don't have to do it as complicated as this you can keep it as simple as you'd like.

Happy New Home

Morning everybody, my lovely friend Dottie K and her family have recently moved house so along with a present, (which I will show on my second Facebook page on Friday) I made them a new home card. I had great fun making this one as I really enjoy using the Irresistibly Yours paper and I hope they like it too.


For this card I used two different sheets of the Irresistibly Yours paper and two different techniques on them. You can turn this paper any colour you want or just leave it white, it's very versatile, just be prepared to get a little messy if you want to colour it! 

For the Soft Sky dotty background I used my brayer to get an even colour coverage, although my ink is running a little dry (Understatement I can't even get ink on my fingers if I push on the pad now!) so it does look a little patchy in places but as you'll see in a lotus blossom card I will be showing you shortly this doesn't usually happen. The banner is also cut from this piece of coloured card, you just can't see the hole as I stuck the centre piece over it! For the Wisteria Wonder centre I used the flowery piece of Irresistibly Yours paper and a sponge dauber. I put more colour at the bottom and then sponged upwards, each time I needed more ink on my sponge I applied it at the bottom first to keep the top half lighter. With either technique once you have finished you take a tissue and rub over the paper to remove the ink from the embossed areas which brings them up lovely and shiny again. 

My ink refills are on their way so I should be able to have some fun with a spritzer and the Irresistibly Yours paper soon!

I do love you

Evening everyone, just popping in quickly tonight with another Valentines card (I don't actually have this many Valentines to give to, I was asked to make a batch to sell!!) and thought I would link it to this weeks SU Only Challenges Blog. Anyone can play along with these challenges as long as you only use Stampin' Up! products so why not pop an order in with me and then have a go at a challenge?


This card was originally inspired by a card by Lee Conrey which I found on Pinterest (Click here to see Lee's card) but as you can see it's turned out quite differently. That's why I love Pinterest, it's great for just getting ideas and making them your own with you're own style.

Owl Always Love You

Evening everyone, do you like my cheesy post title? I just couldn't resist! With Valentine's day fast approaching I thought I had better start showing off some Valentine's day cards so that you can get making for your loved ones. 



Now do you get the title? He he (I think I'm funny but I'm not too sure how many people actually agree with me...) These were so simple and quick to make and yet so cute! The letters came from project life accessory packs which usually come with an alphabet of some kind in them but you could always use a stamp or die to achieve the same effect. I've listed below the two I've used but you can see what the alphabets looks like in each pack from the photos in the shop if you'd prefer a different set. You can't quite see in my first picture but the letters are actually red and shiny :-)

It's Wednesday again

Morning everyone, well it's Wednesday again (that went quick didn't it!) which means it's time for another set of weekly deals. There is a real mix this week but my favourite item has to be the decorative dots embossing folder as I love this one and make quite a few cards with it.
