Sunday Retirement Showcase - New Home

Morning all, I am back again this week with another card using retiring/retired products. I've realised that I have far too many retired products that have just been sitting there doing nothing since they retired, some of them several years ago! I am really pleased I decided to do this weekly retirement showcase as it means I've been getting out all of my old products to have a play with.

My brother in law and his girlfriend recently got the keys to their very first house together so I wanted to make them a new home card. I've made a couple in the past but wanted to do a new one rather than re make something I had already done. I have several sets with houses in them so came up with several ideas but nothing really jumped out at me until I found this card by Robin Feicht by doing a Google search. I really liked that it didn't appear particularly feminine or masculine, it was fairly neutral which meant it would be great to give to a couple. I have to admit when I bought the Welcome Words stamp set I only bought it because I liked the stamp welcome (that I haven't used yet....) and completely overlooked the fact that it had home or a house stamp in it.

This stamp set has a lot more possibilities than I initially realised but it is retiring when the new annual catalogue comes out. You may well see it pop up more on a Sunday. The little houses with the smoke heart coming from the chimney is just so cute. 

As we are giving them a gift card as a moving in present, so that they are able to go and choose something they like to put their own mark on their new home, I made a coordinating gift card holder. I love how easy these are to make with the dies and then just embellish them a little (or a lot). It doesn't take long and it means that your gift can coordinate with you card.

Happy New Home

Morning everybody, my lovely friend Dottie K and her family have recently moved house so along with a present, (which I will show on my second Facebook page on Friday) I made them a new home card. I had great fun making this one as I really enjoy using the Irresistibly Yours paper and I hope they like it too.

For this card I used two different sheets of the Irresistibly Yours paper and two different techniques on them. You can turn this paper any colour you want or just leave it white, it's very versatile, just be prepared to get a little messy if you want to colour it! 

For the Soft Sky dotty background I used my brayer to get an even colour coverage, although my ink is running a little dry (Understatement I can't even get ink on my fingers if I push on the pad now!) so it does look a little patchy in places but as you'll see in a lotus blossom card I will be showing you shortly this doesn't usually happen. The banner is also cut from this piece of coloured card, you just can't see the hole as I stuck the centre piece over it! For the Wisteria Wonder centre I used the flowery piece of Irresistibly Yours paper and a sponge dauber. I put more colour at the bottom and then sponged upwards, each time I needed more ink on my sponge I applied it at the bottom first to keep the top half lighter. With either technique once you have finished you take a tissue and rub over the paper to remove the ink from the embossed areas which brings them up lovely and shiny again. 

My ink refills are on their way so I should be able to have some fun with a spritzer and the Irresistibly Yours paper soon!

Home Sweet Home

Hello everyone, I hope you have all had a lovely relaxing weekend and that you are ready for the start of a new week. While I went out for a lovely girly lunch today, Craig and Ethan went down to Portsmouth for a house warming party and as usual I had completely forgotten that I had wanted to make them a card to congratulate them on their new home. So I quickly dived into my craft room to make a card, I think it turned out pretty well considering I was in a rush this morning!

For this I used the 1" square punch to cut out three base squares from different colours of patterned paper then three more squares that were cut in half to form the roof. For the middle house I used the heart from the Itty Bitty Accents punch set as the saying is always 'Home is where the heart is' These were then stuck on with Stampin' Dimensionals to give them extra height. 

As this turned out so quick to make I even had time to make a matching gift card holder!

That's it for me tonight as I'm going to have a nice relaxing evening with hubby!
