November RAK Blog Hop

Happy Sunday everyone and welcome to my very first Random Act of Kindness (RAK) Blog Hop. For those of you that don't know me my name is Cat Herrington and I am based in England. Today I am showcasing the cards I have given & received as part of the Random Act of Kindness Group on Facebook.

Each month, we each select a few people from the Group to send a RAK card to, to brighten their day. Please feel free to join the Group if you would like to participate in the RAK cards movement (blogging is not mandatory).#imbringingRAKcardsback #makeacardsendacard

This is the card that I made to send out to people this month and I will be showing how I made the background as the first part of Technique Tuesday over on my Facebook page this week.

I have not been a member of the RAK group for very long so I only received the one card to show you so far. This lovely card was made by Jacqui Vaughan in Australia and made my day! My husband had the day off when the card arrived so messaged me to say I had received a card from Australia, this then meant that I spent the next couple of hours at work very excited and wanting to get home and open my happy post! I have the stamp set that Jacqui used and it makes me want to get it out and use it again, I haven't stamped with this one in a while.

Stampin' Stars 2016 Blog Hop

Morning everyone! Well the last week has gone by very quickly and it's Saturday already. In my last post I mentioned that I was taking part in a blog hop and today is the day. There is a complete list of those taking part at the bottom of my post. Welcome if you have joined me from another blog!

Today's card has been made using products from the brand new catalogue that launched on the 1st June. If you haven't got your copy yet just drop me an email and I'll get one in the post to you.

Stampin' Up! Painters Pallete

There are several new product suites in this years catalogue but the one I absolutely love is the Playful Pallete suite. I'm not usually one for lots of bright colours, I tend to stick to blues or purples but I have just fallen in love with this years in colours. They go so well together and in this product suite they are just shown off perfectly.

For today's card I have used the playful pallete washi tape pack to create this simple yet effective card. I simply cut some whisper white card stock and wrapped the washi tape over the top of it. As it's sticky by nature and easy to tear it was really simple to do. There is also a purple roll within the pack but I decided I use far too much purple and so chose Peekaboo Peach as my main colour. Here is a close up of the lovely colours. The photo doesn't show the lovely shine that the washi tape has given to the card.

Also within this product suite there is a paper stack which co ordinates with the tape, stamp set and card stock. I'm going to have great fun playing around with this set!

Stampin' Stars Autumn/Winter Blog Hop

Hello and welcome to another Stampin' Stars blog hop, hopefully there are some new people who have hopped over from Cary Buckham or Nic Parr's blogs. If you have started with me then please use the buttons at the bottom to keep going round the hop to look at everyone's fabulous creations. This hop has been done to showcase some of the wonderful things that can be made using items from the Stampin' Up! Autumn/Winter catalogue that is available until 5th January 2015.

I get quite excited about Christmas so I've made a couple of Christmas cards for today's hop, however the catalogue does not just contain Christmas items. There is plenty you can do for Halloween (watch this space for a Halloween party themed post coming soon) as well as Autumn and Thanksgiving which is great if you have friends or family in America. If you would like a copy of the catalogue just drop me an email and I will post you one out.

Here is the first of my two cards for today:

I just love how simple this card was to make! The card base was embossed using the Filigree Frame TIEF, I then stamped the sentiment from Cheerful Christmas in versa mark ink and heat embossed it with Stampin' Emboss Silver Powder. To finish off I used some candy dots from the Regals collection. I did this in both Cherry Cobbler and Garden Green. I have included a close up of the sentiment so that you can see how lovely and shiny the embossing powder has turned out.

The second card for today was really fun to make. I used the new Festival of Trees Photopolymer set which is a great two-step stamping set. This means that you can layer up the images to create lots of different designs with one set.

For this card I've used a card from the Trim the Tree paper stack as the background and then a strip from one of the All is Calm papers. I feel the colours work well together and the Lost Lagoon Silky Taffeta ribbon finishes it off nicely.

I hope you've enjoyed looking at my creations today and find lots of inspiration on the rest of the team's blogs.
